Binged Yellowstone on a flight to Phoenix and learned something about pacing

Watched season 1 on a 4 hour flight last week. I'd heard people rave about it for years, but I swear each episode felt like 15 minutes of action and 45 minutes of people staring at mountains. Got through 6 episodes before I landed and realized I couldn't remember a single character's name. Am I missing something or is this just slow TV dressed up as drama?

My friend fell asleep during episode 3 and said it was the best nap she's ever had.

Nah, I gotta disagree... episode 3 is where the show really picks up, with all the tension building around the mask reveal. The pacing was slower but that was the point, setting up the big twists later. It's definitely not nap material if you ask me.

Wait, did your friend actually watch the show afterward or just write it off completely from that nap? Seems kind of harsh to judge a whole series based on one slow episode when the payoff comes later. How does she feel about slow burns in other shows, or is it just this one that put her to sleep?
