Dropped $85 on a Park Tool chain checker and my old ruler does the same job
Bought the CC-4 thinking it would speed up my tune-ups, but I still get the same 0.5 and 0.75 readings I got eyeballing chains against a steel ruler for a decade. The spring pin actually gets gummed up with chain lube and needs cleaning more often than the ruler does. Anyone else keep a cheap tool around just because the fancy one never earned its spot in the drawer?
