The morning I stopped rushing my coffee routine and started timing it
I used to be the guy who would grind beans while the kettle was still heating, pour water over everything like a fire drill, and gulp down a lukewarm cup while driving. That was my morning for about five years. Then last winter, I started timing each step: three minutes for the pour over, two minutes to actually let it bloom, and ten minutes to sit and drink it without touching my phone. Now it takes me 30 minutes total versus the old 10, but I swear I hit my desk way less frazzled. The funny thing is, my coworkers think I'm just being fancy, but really it's about forcing a slow start. Has anyone else found that adding time to a morning task actually makes the whole day go smoother, or am I just overthinking warm water?

That slow pour over routine is actually legit. I did something similar last year where I stopped trying to microwave my oatmeal and just let it sit for five minutes while I sat at the table. My brain started to wake up before I even hit the coffee shop, and I found I was way less snappy during morning meetings. The trick is to treat it like a non-negotiable ritual instead of a chore you're trying to finish faster.

Ain't it funny how the things we try to rush through are usually the ones that set the tone for the whole day.
