That garden compost bin I was sure would smell terrible actually worked great
My neighbor in St. Louis convinced me to try his stackable system last June, and after three months I had real soil with no stink at all. Has anyone else found a compost method that surprised them?

Worms are for vermicompost, not regular bins. Skip the soil booster too.

@jamiew53 my buddy tried the pure kitchen scrap method and ended up with a fruit fly motel until he borrowed some of my old dirt and it fixed everything.

The real trick nobody talks about is mixing in a shovelful of finished soil from a buddy's bin or a bag of organic potting soil. That kickstarts the bacteria and worms FAST. My first attempt was a total wet mess until I seeded it with some active dirt from my neighbor's pile. Night and day difference.
