Spent 3 hours trying to fix a squeaky office chair wheel before realizing it was just a piece of trash
I thought I was being smart by buying this cheap $40 chair from a local thrift store in Austin. After a week of squeaking, I took the whole wheel assembly apart twice and even watched some DIY video about lubricating ball bearings. Turned out the plastic housing was cracked from day one and no amount of oil or effort was gonna fix it. Anyone else waste way too much time on something that just needed replacing?

The time wasn't wasted if you learned something from it. Sometimes taking something apart is the only way to really understand why it's broken. I've torn down plenty of things that turned out to be junk, but now I know what to look for when I'm buying used stuff. That knowledge will save you more than three hours down the road if you shop thrift again.
