My neighbor was right about checking inside furniture drawers
Old Mr. Patterson down the street told me to always pull out the drawers on any dresser at a garage sale. I shrugged it off for years until last weekend I flipped a beat up nightstand for $8 and found a 1962 silver dime taped inside the top drawer. Has anyone else found cool stuff hidden in furniture they bought cheap?

Read somewhere that people find all kinds of stuff hidden in old furniture, not just rings but cash and old photos too. Makes you wonder what else is sitting in thrift stores waiting to be found lol. Pretty cool score for your buddy though.

Yeah, Brianl53's right about cash and photos being common finds. Cora863 mentioned a gold ring in that thrift store desk - did the buddy end up keeping it or trying to track down the original owner? I've heard stories of people finding old photos and actually returning them to the family through estate sale records, which seems like a decent move if the item has personal meaning.
