Found out by accident that spraying my clipper blades with rubbing alcohol between cuts stops that buzzing sound

I was cleaning my Oster 76s after a rough Saturday and noticed the noise was way better on the next client, so now I mist them every time before I start and it works like a charm, has anyone else tried this or do you just oil them?

Read somewhere that the alcohol evaporates the gunk that makes them buzz.

Wait, wouldn't the alcohol just make the gunk worse? I feel like that sticky residue would just soak up the booze and get even more gunky over time.

Alcohol won't leave a sticky residue if you're using the 90% stuff, it evaporates fast and actually helps dissolve the old oil and hair dust buildup. The key is still hitting them with a proper clipper oil after the alcohol dries because alcohol doesn't lubricate at all, it just cleans. I use a little spray bottle with 91% and give them a quick mist, wipe with a paper towel, then one drop of oil on the blades before I start cutting.
