A regular told me my fades looked 'rushed' and now I force myself to spend 10 extra minutes on every one.

He said it after a haircut last Tuesday, and even though it stung, I started setting a timer to slow down and check my lines from every angle, which has honestly made a huge difference in my blend quality.

Rushed" is such a weird word for a fade.

Honestly, that kind of feedback can be a gift. I had a client point out my blending was uneven once, so I started doing a final mirror check with the client before they left. It catches little things I miss and really improved my consistency.

Okay, hold up. I gotta disagree. "Rushed" feels totally fair. It's not about the time on the clock, it's about the result. I've seen fades where the lines are just slapped in, no real thought to the head shape. The blend is choppy, like they used three guards and called it a day. That's a rushed job, even if it took twenty minutes. Taking that extra time to check your work is exactly how you fix a rushed feel.
