Rant: my shop vac ate a wedding ring on a Tuesday and I spent 5 hours digging through drywall dust
Last Tuesday I was doing a tear off on a house over in Glendale and my helper knocked a bucket over the side into the dumpster, no big deal, except my wife's ring was in there. Long story. Anyway I had the vac running on the ground picking up old nails and dust and didn't think twice until I saw her hand at lunch and realized the ring was gone and probably in the tank. So I dumped 30 pounds of drywall dust and roofing grit onto a tarp in the driveway and sifted it with my hands like some guy panning for gold, for 5 hours, in 90 degree heat. Found it around 7pm under a bent roofing nail, still shiny. My buddy keeps saying I should have just rented a metal detector, which honestly would have been smarter than the spaghetti strainer I was using. Has anyone else ever lost something dumb in a vac and lived to tell it, or am I the only guy on here who does things the hard way?
