Rant: my desk went from a disaster zone to actually usable in one weekend, and I feel dumb for waiting
My desk at home was a real mess for about 8 months, papers stacked maybe a foot high and cables everywhere. Last Saturday I finally grabbed three cheap bins from the store down the street and just sorted it all in one go. It went from me shoving stuff off it every morning to having actual open space in about 3 days of small fixes, like taping the cables under the edge. What finally made me do it was my kid saying he couldn't find a pen anywhere near my computer. What small thing did you fix lately that made a bigger difference than you expected?
The "papers stacked maybe a foot high" part got me because mine had a literal layer of old mail and a dead spider situation going on. I finally cleared the pile of junk off my couch last week and then sat there staring at the empty cushion like I'd solved world hunger. Turns out putting away five things a night beats the dramatic weekend cleanup I keep promising myself. My cables are still a war zone under the desk though, so props on the tape trick.
