My tomato cages collapsed in a June storm, now I build them like bean towers
We got hit with straight-line winds near Wichita last spring and 7 cages just tipped over, squashing my San Marzanos. I switched to pounding 6 foot rebar stakes in a triangle and lashing the cages to them with zip ties. Has anyone else tried staking cages down instead of just setting them on the dirt?

You're just adding extra work so the wind can laugh at you harder. Zip ties and rebar turn a simple cage collapse into a full demolition project when the storm really hits. Let them fall, pick them up, move on with your day.
