Heard a guy at the seed swap say mulch is a scam, I disagree hard
Someone at the Saturday swap in Austin claimed mulch just hides weeds and steals nitrogen from your tomatoes. I've used shredded cedar for 4 seasons now, and my soil stays moist through our 95 degree July heat, plus my earthworm count doubled. Has anyone else had better luck with mulch over bare dirt, or am I missing something?

Mulch feeds the soil food web, but nobody mentions how it protects mycorrhizal fungi from that Texas sun frying them.
