Am I the only one who switched from a gas fire pit to just digging a plain old hole in the yard?
Three years ago I bought a $300 gas fire pit for the patio and spent more time messing with the tank than sitting by it. Last spring I dug a simple 30 inch pit in the grass, lined it with leftover pavers from the Lowe's on Route 9, and we use it way more now. No valves, no propane runs, just wood from the brush pile and a lawn chair. The gas unit sat under a tarp for a year before I sold it for $80. Anyone else ditch the fancy patio stuff and go back to the simple version?

You basically paid $300 to rent a propane tank for three years, and the hole in the dirt won.
