Hot take: the AT shelter system is overrated after 3 nights of bad luck
I always heard everyone rave about staying in shelters on the Appalachian Trail, but after three straight nights with snorers and a mouse crawling over my face, I'm not sold. Tbh, my hammock setup was way more comfortable and I slept like a rock the rest of the trip. Anyone else ditch the shelters for good or am I missing something?

wait wait wait hold up, mouse on the FACE?? like an actual mouse or one of those weird metal things on a chain? i gotta say i've seen some wild trends but that one is just next level crazy to me. mice are cool and all but not on someone's face come on now lol. i can't even imagine walking down the street and seeing someone with a rodent just chilling on their cheek or something. this is the kind of thing that makes me wonder what people are thinking sometimes fr

Ugh the mouse on the face is a hard no for me" honestly same... like why would you want a little critter just sitting there on your skin? I get that people love their pets but there's gotta be a line somewhere. Plus I'd be worried about it clawing up my face or leaving little scratches, that just sounds like a bad time all around.
