Old school vs modern harness construction, which holds up longer?
I've been fixing avionics racks for 15 years and noticed the point-to-point wiring from the 80s lasts forever while these new pre-made harnesses start cracking after 5 years. The old stuff used thicker insulation and real solder joints instead of those crimp connectors. Anyone else see the same pattern on their bench?

Wait, you've seen point-to-point solder actually crack from vibration?

Gotta disagree on the solder joints thing. I've seen plenty of old point-to-point work where the solder cracked from vibration over time, and it was a nightmare to trace. The new pre-made harnesses with crimp connectors actually hold up better in my experience, especially the ones with heat shrink over the connections. The insulation thickness is definitely thinner now, but the connectors themselves are way more reliable if they're installed right with the proper tool.
