My lead signed off on a harness I wouldn't have touched, and now I'm the bad guy for flagging it
Two weeks ago at our shop in Wichita I pulled a Kapton harness off a King Air and found 11 chafed wires right where the clamp rubs the spar, so I wrote it up as a no-go. My lead looked at it for maybe 30 seconds, called it cosmetic, and signed it off anyway because the owner was already mad about the downtime. Am I crazy for thinking a sign-off like that is how you end up in a hangar fire investigation, or is this just how it goes at every shop under the gun?
