Flat rate vs hourly, I finally get why older guys hate the change

I used to think flat rate was the only way to make real money, but after 3 years of chasing book hours at a dealer in Phoenix, I switched to hourly at an independent shop and my stress dropped overnight. Anyone else make the jump and find the trade-off worth it in the long run?
