PSA: That cheap HVAC filter subscription turned out to be a scam

I signed up for FilterTime last summer because it was $8 a month and seemed easy. Turns out they sent me the wrong size filters twice and charged me for ones I never got. Had to call three times to cancel. Anyone else get burned by one of those filter subscription services?

Same thing happened to me with FilterTime. They sent the wrong filters three months in a row, then tried to bill me for the next batch after I already canceled. Had to block them on my credit card to finally get off the hook.

My buddy Mark signed up for FilterTime last fall. They sent him 16x25 filters when his unit takes 16x20 every single time. He tried calling their support line and got put on hold for 45 minutes before they hung up on him. He ended up paying for three months of filters he just stuffed in the garage because he felt bad throwing them away. Finally had to file a dispute with his bank to stop the charges. Total nightmare, he still gets spam emails from them.

FilterTime sent me the wrong size three times before I gave up and just cut the card they had on file. Their customer service kept promising a fix but never followed through.
