Tried using my phone for astrophotography vs a cheap used DSLR
After 3 nights of blurry star trails with my Pixel, I picked up a $150 Canon T3i from a pawn shop. The difference in detail on Orion's nebula was ridiculous, like going from a blurry smudge to actual cloud structure. Anyone else make the jump from phone to real camera and never look back?

Yeah a used DSLR changed everything for me too.

sandraflores it's wild how one decent piece of gear can flip a switch in your head. I've seen the same thing with people picking up a good used bicycle instead of a cheap walmart one. Suddenly they actually want to ride because the thing isn't fighting them every pedal. A used miller welder did that for a buddy of mine who gave up on harbor freight stuff. It's like buying the right tool once makes you realize all the frustration before was just the equipment holding you back.

Got an old Panasonic tape deck at a garage sale for five bucks. Sounded way better than that cheap Sony boom box I'd been fighting with for years. Made me actually dig out all my old cassettes again.
