Spent 2 hours rotating a single photo of the Pleiades because I forgot to set the white balance in camera

Shot M45 on Tuesday with my Canon T7i and couldn't figure out why the stars looked green until I realized I had it on auto white balance the whole time. Has anyone else wasted a whole night on something this simple?

Yeah I just bracket my white balance now with three quick shots so I never mess up again.

Oh man, that's the worst feeling isn't it? I did pretty much the same thing last winter with a moon shot, spent an hour in post trying to fix the color cast before I realized my white balance was stuck on fluorescent. It's always the simple settings that get you when you're rushing to get the shot.

Oh yeah, totally been there. Last summer I spent like 45 minutes messing with the noise reduction on a sunrise shot from the beach, thinking my sensor was dying or something, and it turned out I just had my ISO cranked up to 6400 from the night before. I was so mad at myself because I always check that stuff before I start shooting but that morning I was rushing because the light was perfect and I didn't want to miss it. It's funny how you can get so focused on getting the shot that you completely forget the basic stuff you've done a hundred times. And then you sit there in Lightroom feeling like an idiot while you fix something that could have been avoided with two seconds of checking.
