Shot 3 months of moon pics with auto focus on and felt like an idiot after my buddy zoomed in
I was out in my backyard in Reno last Tuesday shooting the moon for the hundredth time and my friend Marcus looked at my screen and said 'why is the crater edge all soft?' I had been leaving autofocus on for months because the moon looked sharp on my tiny camera screen. He showed me how to switch to manual focus and zoom in 10x on live view to dial it in, and the difference in the crater detail was nuts. Turns out autofocus hunts on the bright flat disk and never really locks on. Has anyone else fallen for this or is it just me?
