Rant: spent $200 on a used telescope and got nothing but clouds for 3 weeks straight

Picked up a used 8 inch Dobsonian off Craigslist for $200. Figured it was a steal for getting into astrophotography. Three weeks of solid overcast skies later and I've just been staring at the thing in my living room. Anyone else drop cash on a scope only to have the weather turn against you?

Got nothing but clouds for 3 weeks straight" - man that is brutal. I used to think buying a telescope was just about the scope, not the weather. But after I dropped $150 on a used reflector last winter and got two whole clear nights in two months, I totally get it now. It's like the universe knows you spent money and just laughs at you. I ended up spending more time reading about astrophotography online than actually using the thing. The clouds disappeared the day after I finally sold it, go figure.
