My neighbor swears the city is stealing his garden water, but the real problem was a $9 part
My neighbor Phil has been telling everyone on our block that the city is messing with his water pressure because his garden hose puts out a weak trickle. He called the water department twice in one month and even started keeping a log of every time it happened. I went over last Saturday to look at it and found his spray nozzle was clogged with hard water buildup, plus the rubber washer inside the fitting had crumbled into pieces. I swapped in a new washer from a 3 pack I bought for $9 at the hardware store and his pressure came back instantly. He had been blaming the city for almost 6 weeks over a part smaller than a dime. So my question for everyone is, what is the dumbest thing you spent real money or time fixing when it turned out to be one tiny cheap part?
