Figured out a simple billing code issue after 8 months of headache
Been doing contract work for a small roofing company in Phoenix. Turned out I was using the wrong labor code on city permits. Took me 8 months and three rejected permits to figure it out. A city clerk finally pointed it out in 30 seconds flat at the counter. Anyone else deal with a tiny mistake that cost way more time than it should have?

Took me 8 months and three rejected permits" - that's brutal but honestly it's amazing how one city clerk can just casually fix your whole problem in half a minute. Makes you wonder how many other people are stuck on the same dumb code and nobody told them either.

Hold up, I gotta disagree a little bit. If everyone just ran to the city clerk for every little thing, they'd be swamped and nothing would get done. The permit process is there for a reason, even if it sucks, and skipping steps just because you can is how you end up with a mess of exceptions and no real rules.

Bet @bennett.vera nailed it, the city clerk probably sees that same issue five times a week and just quietly fixes it without thinking twice. Makes me wonder how many people are out there burning time on stuff that could get solved by just asking the right person a quick question. That 30 second interaction could've saved you a whole half year of stress if you'd hit the counter sooner.
