Why does nobody talk about the free tables at the dump? I found a solid oak dining set there last Tuesday
I went to the transfer station over by Maple Ave to drop off some old paint cans, and there was a whole section of furniture people just left. Someone had put out a dining table with six chairs, no stains, no wobble, just a little dusty. I grabbed it for my sister who moved into a new place and had zero budget. But here's the thing, half the people walking by were eyeing it like it was cursed. One guy even said "if it's free, there's gotta be a reason." Is that true though? I get being careful about bed bugs or whatever, but a solid wood table with metal legs seems pretty safe to me. So I'm wondering, are free curb finds worth it or is everyone smarter than me for walking away? Has anyone else lucked out at the dump or found something gross and regretted it? I'm honestly torn between telling everyone to go check their local dump first or keeping this my secret spot.
