DAE realize you've been making your back cut wrong the whole time?
Last week I was dropping a dead ash behind a shop off Route 9 and the guy helping me says my back cut was riding way too high above the hinge. I always thought leaving a little extra wood on the stump was safer, so I'd been doing it that way for almost 4 years. He showed me how it lets the tree tip back on you instead of going where you want, and sure enough my last few drops had all been pulling left. I've been out there with a wedge and a level now trying to unlearn it. How did you all get your hinge figured out, was it someone showing you or just a lot of stumps?
