Unpopular opinion: I hate those new Samsung fridge ice makers with a passion.

Got called out to a house in the suburbs last week for a 'no ice' complaint. Spent two hours just getting the damn drawer assembly out because of a single stripped Torx screw buried in the back. Anyone else have a better method for those besides just drilling it out?

What kind of sadist designs a screw you can't even reach? I mean, drilling it out feels like the only option when they build them like that. Maybe they think we need the extra job security.

But what if it's not about the factory? Sometimes a screw is hard to reach on purpose to stop people from taking things apart. They don't want you fixing it yourself, they want you to buy a new one or pay for their repair service. It feels less like an accident and more like a choice to lock you out. Doesn't that make more sense than just bad design?

Blame the assembly line robots, not the designers. Those screws go in before the other parts get added, so they're easy to reach during manufacturing. The problem is they never stop to think about how a human with normal sized hands would ever get them back out. It's pure factory logic, not sadism.
