Dub vs sub debate broke my anime group chat last night

I had to pick between watching Attack on Titan dubbed or subbed with my friends and I chose subbed, now half the group is mad at me and we ended up just watching nothing. Has anyone else had a group fall apart over this dumb choice?

oh man i had a friend who went through this exact thing with his group over the same show actually. they were supposed to do a whole marathon night but one guy refused to watch anything dubbed because he said the voice acting ruins the emotion for him. another girl would not do subbed because she says reading takes her out of the action. so they spent like two hours arguing back and forth and eventually my friend just said forget it and went home. i mean idk maybe it's just me but if a friend cares that much about dub vs sub to the point where you can't even watch a show together maybe they need to chill a little bit.

and honestly it's not even just about the show thing you know? i feel like this whole "my way is the right way" attitude is everywhere now. people act like how you enjoy something is some kind of moral stance and they take it personally if you do it different. it's like with cooking shows or even music, one person swears you gotta listen to the album start to finish and the other says playlists are fine and suddenly it's a whole thing. makes me wonder if we've all just forgotten how to just let people be happy with their own choices without making it a fight.
