A coworker in his 20s made me rethink my whole anime watching style

I was talking to this guy at work who's like 22 and he said he never skips intros because they're part of the 'experience.' I've been skipping intros since the early 2000s to save time, but now I'm wondering if I missed something. Has anyone else changed how they watch stuff after talking to a younger fan?

I have to say I disagree with the whole "intros are part of the experience" thing. I've been watching anime since the late 90s and I still skip them because they're just the same song and animation every single episode. If I wanted to listen to the theme I would put it on YouTube. The idea that I'm missing some deeper meaning by skipping a two minute song is a bit much. Back in my day we had to rewind VHS tapes so I learned real fast that time is precious and intros are filler. Your coworker sounds like he has more free time than most of us.

Ugh I totally get that rewinding VHS was the worst!

Right there with you, rewinding VHS really teaches you not to waste a single second.

Saw a video essay saying intros set the emotional tone for each arc.
