The parchment paper trick I fumbled for way too long
I kept having my air fryer basket get caked with cheese and sauce from cooking frozen burritos, and scrubbing that thing after every single meal was driving me nuts. It took me like three weeks of scraping and soaking to finally figure out you can just cut a round piece of parchment paper to fit the basket, punch a few holes in it with a fork, and set your food right on top. The paper stays put because the fan holds it down, and cleanup goes from a 10 minute ordeal to just tossing the paper in the trash. I even bought a pack of precut 8 inch rounds at the grocery store in Des Moines for about $4, and they work perfectly with my 5 quart basket. Has anyone else been stubborn about using parchment and finally caved, or do you use those silicone liners instead?

Funny timing with this post, I literally watched a video yesterday from some food blogger who was doing a whole comparison on this. She tested parchment against those silicone liners and the silicone ones actually let food slide around more in the basket, plus they're a pain to wash because grease gets stuck in the little holes. The parchment just wins for ease. I remember reading in the comments too that some people were worried about the paper touching the heating element but she addressed that and said as long as it fits flat in the basket you're fine. My own stubborn moment was refusing to try it for months because I figured the paper would just fly up and burn, but the fan trick really does hold it down. Now I keep a roll of parchment right next to the air fryer and I don't even think about it anymore, just rip, poke, toss.
