My air fryer chicken came out raw in the middle until I tried the 2 layer trick, but a buddy says it dries the meat out
So I kept pulling out chicken thighs after 18 mins at 400 and they looked golden but were pink near the bone, which grossed me out twice in one night. I started putting a thin slice of onion under each piece on the rack so the bottom gets heat too, and it finally hit 175 on my thermometer every time. Now my friend Dan swears that stacking anything under the chicken just steams it and makes the skin soggy, and he says flip halfway is the only real fix. I get crispy skin with my way but I'll admit the onion burns and smells weird if I forget it. Has anyone tested resting the chicken on a wire trivet inside the basket, or is that just doing the same thing as my onion trick?
