Rant: That AI writing tool I dropped $50 on was basically useless for real work

I bought into the hype around a popular AI assistant for drafting emails and reports. Thought it would save me hours. But after using it for two weeks straight, I realized it just spit out generic fluff that I had to rewrite anyway. That $50 could have bought me a decent lunch or two. Has anyone else found an AI tool that actually does more than sound fancy but say nothing?

Heard some tech reporter on a podcast say these tools are basically just autocomplete on steroids, not real writers. They can string words together but dont actually understand what you need done. Save your cash and stick with templates or a real human editor for that kind of work.

Yep. My 50 bucks taught me the same lesson.

Did your friend try asking it to rewrite their own draft instead?

Tried that once with my own writing for a work email. The AI "improved" it so much it sounded like a motivational speaker wrote a resignation letter. I ended up going back to my original draft and just fixing the one typo.
