My professor said AI art would never get good at hands, but look at it now
He told our class in 2021 that generating realistic hands was a 'fundamental barrier' for AI image tools. Fast forward to this week, and I'm using a new model that nails complex gestures almost every time. What's the next big thing you all think AI will suddenly figure out?

Remember when they said AI video would always look weird? That's gonna be the next one to just click out of nowhere.

I saw one of those AI clips last week where a squirrel was tap dancing. The paws were a bit off, but it was close. You're right, Fiona Murphy, it feels like the weird hands phase of AI art. One day the fingers were all wrong, the next they were selling prints. The video stuff will hit that same wall, then just slide right past it. We'll be watching full AI movies before we even notice the change.

Really sat there watching a tap dancing squirrel and just accepted it? That's wild to me. I still can't get over how fast this stuff is moving though. Remember when those early AI images looked like melted nightmares with six fingers on each hand? Now they're cranking out video clips that almost pass for real life. It's like we blinked and suddenly the technology just skipped a bunch of steps. Makes me wonder what we'll be laughing at next year that'll seem totally normal the year after.
