My AI content generator cooked up a recipe with poison mushrooms
Last week I was testing out this new GPT tool for generating blog posts about wild foraging. I asked it to write a guide on identifying edible mushrooms in the Pacific Northwest. The thing straight up recommended eating death cap mushrooms as a substitute for chanterelles because they 'look similar and taste earthy.' I caught it during editing but barely. How do you all handle fact checking AI outputs when the mistakes could actually hurt someone?

Gotta double check every single claim yourself with trusted sources.

Don't you just hate when you find out something you believed wasn't true at all?

Oh, haven't we all been there more times than we'd like to admit? I've started fact-checking everything from home remedies to major news stories after getting burned one too many times. Like when I spent years believing you should wash raw chicken before cooking it, turns out that just splashes bacteria all over your kitchen. Now I check things on at least two different sites before I change my mind about anything important.
