My AI art generator gave me a six-fingered hand and I nearly lost it
So I was messing around with Stable Diffusion last night trying to make a portrait for a D&D character I'm building. I finally got the face perfect after like 20 tries. Then I zoomed in on the hand and it had six fingers. Six! I spent another full hour tweaking prompts and negative prompts just to get five fingers. Eventually I had to add "five fingers" to the negative prompt and adjust the CFG scale to 7.5. It worked on the third try after that. Anyone else run into weird anatomical glitches with local models compared to cloud ones?

Six fingers is a classic local model quirk, happens with limbs too. In my experience it's like the AI gets confused by the context, similar to how autocorrect will change a word you typed correctly into something weird because it's trying to guess what comes next. Your mileage may vary, but I've noticed local models seem to struggle more with fine details when the prompt gets too complex, so I'll sometimes dial the CFG back even further for hands. Take this with a grain of salt, but that 7.5 setting is a good sweet spot from what I've seen.

Wait wait wait. @lucasw82 are you saying you actually hit 7.5 CFG and get good hands? That blows my mind. I run most of mine at 5 or even 4 for complex stuff. Hands just turn into a nightmare above 6 for me. Maybe my model is just finicky or I'm doing something different with my prompts. I've had to learn to just inpaint hands separately half the time. Still shocked someone gets clean fingers at 7.5.
