Honestly, I used to think AI art was just a gimmick until I saw my friend's portfolio change in a year.

Tbh, last March her digital paintings were good but took her a week each. She started using a new AI tool called Midjourney for initial concepts. By last month, her output tripled and the detail in her backgrounds got way more complex. Ngl, it made me rethink if being against AI in creative work is just holding people back. Has anyone else seen a project totally shift after adding an AI step?

Yeah, the key is to treat the AI output as a starting point you then heavily edit and build on (makes it truly yours).

So what's the actual art then, her taste in prompts? I mean, it's cool her output went up, but that's like a chef saying they made more food after they bought a microwave. The skill is in the making, not just the idea. Idk, maybe it's just me but calling it her portfolio gets weird if a machine is doing the heavy lifting.
