A user called out my AI chatbot for sounding like a robot and I had to rethink everything
Someone told me my chatbot replies were too formal and didn't sound human - they said 'nobody talks like that' which hit hard. I rewrote my prompts to use shorter sentences and contractions, and now my engagement jumped 40% in just three days. Has anyone else had to adjust their AI tone after user feedback?

Guess that chatbot tone was a little too "as per my last email" for people.

i feel that honestly. it's rough when someone calls you out but i think it's actually a good thing in the long run. like, we all get so used to our own writing style but real people notice when it's stiff. i had a similar moment with a project i was helping a friend with and we scrapped the whole first draft because it sounded like a textbook. ended up way better after we just let it breathe and used more casual language. sometimes you need that blunt feedback to realize you've been overthinking it.

Yeah the "textbook" thing hits home. I had a buddy once read something I wrote for a project and he just said "nobody talks like this." Stung at first but he was right. I was trying too hard to sound smart and ended up sounding fake. After I rewrote it like I was explaining it to a friend over coffee everything clicked. Now I just read my stuff out loud before I send it. If it sounds weird coming out of my mouth I fix it before anyone else has to.
