Hit 1000 consecutive pour-overs without missing a morning, now I can't decide if that's impressive or ridiculous
I realized yesterday that I hit 1000 days straight of making a pour-over coffee at home. That's almost 3 years of not buying a single cup from a shop. Some mornings I woke up 15 minutes early just to make it happen. The weird part is I feel proud of the discipline but also wonder if I'm just being stubborn about my routine. Maybe buying a coffee sometimes is fine and doesn't mean I'm failing. So which side wins for you? Is hitting a long streak of something like this worth celebrating, or is it okay to break it on purpose now and then?

Genuine question here: did you ever stop and think about whether you were actually enjoying those 15 minute early mornings, or was it more like a chore you just powered through? Because there's a big difference between a habit that brings you a quiet moment of zen and one that just feels like another obligation you stacked on yourself. I've got a few things in my own life I do every day without fail, and when I step back and realize I'm not even tasting them anymore, that's when I know I need a break. So is the streak the point, or is the coffee actually still tasting good on day 1000?

Exactly. If it feels like a chore you're just grinding through, what's the point? The streak is just a number at that point. I had a morning walk habit I stuck with for six months and then realized I was just watching the clock the whole time. That's when I dropped it and started sleeping in.
