Universal Health Care Fails if Insufficiently Funded
At the heart of the health care debate seems to me to be the issue of too little money. Governments make all these plans, yet of there is insufficient funding the schemes often fail. Look at the situation in California for instance. Many Californians served by Medi-Cal can’t even get to see their doctor straight away if they are sick. And now, congressional leaders want to expand eligibility for Medicaid from around 6.5 million poor Californians to include another 2 million. The problem is that the program is under resourced as it is, so adding more patients can only make things worse. Universal Health Care is a terrific idea, but only if there are sufficient funds to make it work.
