Looooooooooong Process
When I’m not at my day job, which is in Ann Arbor web design, I’m at home writing. We’ll go ahead and call it my night job. I’ve been really frustrated recently at how long it takes me to get my writing done. I get home at about 5:30. Usually the kids have an activity or I’m helping them with homework or music practice. Sometimes I run. Then there’s a late dinner (in which I don’t even clean anything up and rarely cook). (I warm.) Then it’s time to get them ready for bed-it can be a journey-then, I FINALLY settle in to my writing nook. But I have warm up first. I check email, then do a little facebooking, then a couple scrabble game moves, then I stare at the page. Then I turn on mood music. Then I sit there and think. And think. And think. By 10:00 I’m ready to actually type. By 1:00 I know the next day is going to be a three-cup-of-coffee day.
